In 2005, the School of Nursing & Health Studies at Georgetown University received a grant from AmeriCorps to launch Nurses for America (NFA). NFA provides nurses with a two-year salaried position at a community health center, faith-based neighborhood clinic, or public health department. Participants received an intensive two-week training at Georgetown University and have ongoing mentorship at their identified clinic site, as well as access to continuing education opportunities.

Nurses for America collaborates with community clinic staff to empower individuals to improve their health and change their community.
